The Coconut husks are soaked in water preferably saline water for a certain period until the fiber becomes loose and soft. After retting, the husks are taken out of water and washed. Outer skin peeled off, placed on wooden blocks and beaten with a wooden mallet for separating the fibers from the pith. After fibers are separated from the pith, these are cleaned and then spread for drying. The fibers spread for drying are occasionally beaten and tossed up with poles to remove the remnants of pith and impurities still adhering to the fiber. Coir obtained from fresh green Coconut is termed as White Fiber, which is finer than the Brown Fiber. The Brown Fiber is the outcome of Seasoned Fully Matured Coconuts which lose their green color in the process. Coir Fiber - Brown (Golden Brown)Coir Fiber - Brown is extracted out of matured brown coconut. Uses :It is used for various applications like making Curled Coir Rope used in manufacturing coir mattresses, rubberized coir pads, coir cushions, carpet under lays, seat cushions and for insulating drainage pipes. It is also used for insulation and packaging
Coir Fiber - White (Golden Yellow)Coir Fiber - White (Golden Yellow) is made out of immature green coconut husk. Uses : Various coir products like carpets & rope manufacture, making fishing nets and Mats of woven coir fiber are made from the finer grades of bristle and white fiber using hand or mechanical looms.
